The Sunday Post: Autumn Evenings & Panic Buying

Dark Grey Boyfriend Coat - New Look
Aubergine Silk Top - Zara
Skater Skirt - Topshop
Buckled Boots - Boohoo

I have been a right old busy bee this week dashing around London in my new heel boots to upcoming a/w launches and drinks with work pals, I barely had a moment to myself. That being said Jon and I took it upon ourselves to go for an evening stroll in some local gardens to get a good dose of fresh air and test out my new coat. It was so nice to just get out from all the hustle and bustle, really catch up - I've been plunking onto our bed as soon as I'm home and falling asleep - with the only noise being the faint moo of a cow in the distance.

I did treat myself to a spot of retail therapy for a second week on the trot. I'm essentially panic buying for the Cosmo Awards at the minute. I want to look glam but not OTT, I'm really not feeling dresses at the minute so I've picked out some alternative options in case I really go off what I picked out last weekend. I'll be posting my final choice next week and you can check out all the goings on on my instagram (@ohlittlered), as I'm sure to be documenting the evening like crazy! I'm getting super excited about it now, not only will I get to meet lot's of lovely bloggers that I've spoken to online but never had the chance to meet face to face, but it's also Suzie's birthday! So, I really cannot wait to celebrate her birthday with her in style.

Question time! What sort of posts do you want to see more from me? I have been particularly proud of how my posts and photography have been turning out this week and loved all your positive comments so I want to keep up the anty. Let me know!

Autumn Wardrobe: Back to Basics

Last weekend I decided to have a bit of a wardrobe cull, the bin bags were whipped out and any salvageable's donated to charity. In total three bin bags worth of old, unwanted, and those items that you always say you will wear but never do, were filled to brim and cleared out.  Now, the hunt for some new autumnal staples could begin...

I noticed whilst sorting through my wardrobe that I had a distinct lack of 'basics' - y'know those pieces that can be easily layered up or just go with everything - and so yesterday I scouted out many a rail to pick up the bare necessities. I love a winter jumper more than most but wanted some looser cosy knits that could be layered up with jackets and coats. H&M, Zara, COS, and Topshop are great for picking these up. I opted for neutral colours such as creams, charcoals, and a pastel lilac which is set to be on trend this season. Button up shirts, silk cami tee's and a leather jacket will never fail you. Burgundy, khaki green, and black and white shades are perfect.

Next up, ask yourself have you got a pair of trusty leather heeled boots? These for me are a must have for autumn in both flats and heels. You won't find me out of these bad boys till February people so they are well worth the investment. Topshop and Zara again are great for this. For those on a tighter budget I couldn't recommend New Look, H&M, and Boohoo enough. I picked up the pair above for a measly £25 from New Look and I loooove them.  Pair these with Topshop Leigh Jeans in black and you've got a match made in heaven, suitable for work as well as looking chic. Win, win.

Okay, so strictly speaking MAC lipsticks aren't wardrobe essentials but I think every girl should have a true red lipstick and a nude on hand. Ruby Woo and Hue are personal favourites and jazz up any autumnal outfit. A simple statement necklace can also glam up a simple knit and jean combo, think Zara, Topshop and ASOS.

What are your staple items for your basics wardrobe?

I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone

The not-so English sunny weather we've been graced with recently provides the perfect excuse to get snap happy. The boyfriend and I prefer a stroll to are local fields and footpaths, normally armed with a picnic and SPF as we're such pale children.

The other week I was browsing the rails of Zara, as I do many a time on the hunt for a new gem to add to my already busty wardrobe, when I spotted this navy blue playsuit. I knew I had to have it, and even better it was in the sale at £17.99!

I love the silky fabric, the print, and the fact that I do feel as if I'm wearing PJ's to work - what could be better? I received lot's of lovely compliments whilst wearing this and I know my friends are also on the hunt to pick one up, so hurry!

What do you think is it too granddad's pj's or playsuit perfection?

New In: Zara Lacquered Platform Sandals

When it comes to heel's I tend to stick to what I know which are bog standard Dorothy Perkin's black wedges, x6 and that's my heel collection. So, when I spotted this pair of lacquered sandals on the Zara site I felt one of two things, first being these shoes are bloomin' gorgeous, but secondly will they suit me?

I did opt for the safer brown shade only to find they were completely sold out in my size, but I really loved the style of these sandals and so decided to get a pair in the shade Ecru instead. Upon arrival I was an incy bit surprised at how red the heel is, as I thought it would be more of a dark mahogny but I've grew to love it. They're super comfy, and I feel utterly gorgeous in them, and that's what matters most, right?

These sandals are well worth the £40 investment and add a much needed touch of colour to my shoe stash, perfect for holiday's and the summer months! What do you think?

summer wine

grey marl open shoulder asymmetric tunic - topshop
grey speckle skater skirt (worn underneath) - topshop
spiked necklace - ebay
messenger bag - zara (post here)

This week has been pretty hectic for me having moved back to University early to try and get a head start on course work and such before then heading back to London to pop into to Motel Rocks Sample Sale part of Vogues Fashion Night Out - let me tell you the atmosphere was buzzing!

September is showering us with glorious last minute sunshine and so my pasty pale legs made an appearance today teamed up a very grey outfit to juxtapose the colourful backdrop of a bustling London Town. I really love this asymmetric tunic, I have got a bit of a crush on open shoulder tops recently so this fitted in perfectly teamed with my favourite spiked necklace and topshop's beguiled lipstick to add a bit of attitude to this laid back outfit.

Jon and I trodded along to Brent Cross for a spot of shopping - yes even more shopping! - as mission 'find a winter bobble hat' was a-go, look out for an upcoming post on my finds! We're planning on having the last BBQ of the year tomorrow to top off the weekend before resting up and planning my outfit for the Roger and Gallet Bloggers Evening on Monday - please let me know if you're popping along too :)

How are you spending your weekend?

This is a bit of a compilation of the past two weeks which has been filled with laughter, paddling pool frolicks and making the most of the sunshine we were blessed with for only a short period of time. My AA Disco Pants finally felt like they fit so I've been parading around in them whenever I have the chance and therefore I have been sung at "you better shape up, because I need a man" countless times for their resemblance to Grease. I'm so glad to finally put exams behind me and enjoy my four months of freedom! Hooray!

Zara Rose Gold Messenger Bag With Edging

Available here £19.99

I think everyone and their mother has been yattering on about this bag and after many unsuccessful trips to my local Zara I finally resorted to ordering it online. I've been after a new handbag for quite some time, I'm not one of these girls who prizes her bags like arm candy with a very sparse collection so this was a welcome edition.

It arrived shortly after I'd ordered it and ever since has been my go to university bag as it fits my laptop in perfectly. The light grey leather is great matching with summer pastels and it goes well with most outfits, it does come in red and black but I personally don't find those to my taste. I especially love the rose gold hardware which really zinched the deal for me when forking over my not so hard earned student loan as a treat for a month of dreaded exams. The price was also a real seller at a cheap and cheerful £19.99 so all I have left to say is rush to the shops and see if you can get your hands on one!
