A Foundation Fav? Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk

I've recently become somewhat of a foundation fiend, long gone are the days where I would stock pile my favourite drugstore L'Oreal Lumi Magique like there was going to be an apocalypse. Despite being a hoarder of all things cosmetic, I was never really tempted to try a high end foundation scared off by the price tag when I was already quite content with my cheaper alternative. However, I began to realise that different formula's were needed for the colder months, or days where I want a bit more coverage and so I began to stock up.

Now, don't get me wrong I still love my L'Oreal Lumi Magique with it's light dewy finish, it was perfect for everyday wear during the Summer but with winter coming it was time to branch out. I love my Estee Lauder Double Wear for nights out and days where my skin is just not co-operating, and I've tried and tested Lancôme's Teint Vissonaire which again is good for coverage but was slightly too dark for my skin tone. But, after hearing many a good thing about Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation I had to give it a go...

This foundation is perfect for the winter months and those of us who battle with dry skin, I apply moisturiser before hand and no longer suffer with those dry foundation patches that were the bane of my life. The shade range is bloomin' marvellous with 21 shades in all, you can tell I'm the palest of the pale as I was matched up to Shade 2. It blends into my skin seamlessly and the colour match is spot on for me, something I again have trouble with having to often mix and match shades. I have found myself reaching for this more and more with the only downside being it retails at £35 a bottle and I can see myself running through this within a couple months.

Have you tried Luminous Silk? What's your go to winter foundation?

  1. I've read so so many rav reviews about this foundation and I'm so close to caving and buying it! Watch out pay day x

  2. I don't really change up my foundation much. I picked up a Revlon BB cream recently (because I REALLY want the Shu Ueumura one but I hadn't tried a BB cream before). It's super lovely. I usually use a mineral foundation, either Laura Mercier or Lily Lolo.

I'm not into heavy foundations. I like light, sometimes medium, coverage.

  3. Ah this foundation is everywhere and with good reason apparently! I also am prone to dry skin , especially now we are in fall. Will definitely have to get a sample and see if it works for me, as once I like a foundation theres no way I'd change it! Thanks for the honest review!

  4. Pay day is the best day ;) x

  5. I don't tend to get on so well with BB Creams but I maybe I'll give them another go! I prefer lighter coverage too, and this foundation isn't too heavy duty at all! x

  6. Let me know if you give it a go :) x

  7. It looks really lovely and I've heard so many good things about it.. maybe it's time I tried a new liquid/gel foundation.

  8. I really don't change up my base routine all that much from season to season except for different shades. However, the fact that this foundation has no SPF is seriously tempting me for nights out. As if I need anymore bases! :P

  9. Sounds incredible, I may try and get a sample of this! x

  10. Great post! Think I might try a cheeky sample, although I'm always scared to incase I like them and then have to pay the price tag! Haha!

  11. Great review! I would only get a sample though. I can't imagine spending so much on a foundation!

  12. The Armani make up range is amazing! I've not tried this foundation but I have the face fabric and it gives such good coverage. would definitely recommend it. :)

  13. I bought this and I LOVE the formula, plus the shade is perfect for my pale skin. I got a little paranoid that it was the cause of a breakout, but I think I might have been wrong about that x

  14. I am stuck in a foundation rut & really need a change for the winter. I worry about a new foundation breaking me out & also I have oily skin and thats a problem with so many foundations.

I have read nothing but positive reviews of this Luminous silk foundation & think I will take the plunge and buy this with 21 shades in the range I should get a good match

  15. I really want to try this foundation, I just wish I could try a sample first though :(

hello lovelies! I read and try to reply to each and every comment and they really do make my day :)
