elf blush: fuchsia fusion

(l-r) fuchsia fusion, giddy gold, berry merry

A few weeks back I took high advantage of the elf 50% discount code, among many other items I had often thought of picking up an elf blush to see for myself whether they were as pigmented as some of my favourite beauty bloggers have claimed for their extremely purse friendly price tag. I ended up adding three to my online shopping basket, and trust me when I say I would have gone for more if some of the more popular shades hadn't already sold out completely.

First thing I noticed, once the excitement of eyeing up my new assortment of discounted delights wained off slightly, was the similarities between ELF and NARS. Most obvious to the eye is, of course, the packaging, cased in their sleek, black, and rectangular homes the only main difference is the famous rubberised packaging associated with Nars. Another similarity is that many of the elf shades are close dopplegangers for Nars also, in particular the blush in question which I find a great dupe for Nars Angelika.

Despite its namesake 'fuschia fusion', I would in fact describe this shade as more of a bubble gum pink with flecks of silver glitter running through it. Pigmentation wise I can't fault it, however, unless you're a human magpie, excited by all things sparkly and that shimmers, this shade can be over done quite easily creating a less desirable human glitterball effect. No, thank you. Therefore, you only need a light dusting on your brush and I would advise tapping off any excess before application and building up slowly but surely to your desired flush of pink. I really didn't need to build this blush up much personally as I am of the pale, ghost skin persuasion and as aforementioned this product is highly pigmented.

I really do like this shade as it does add that rosy flush to your cheeks that is suited to the warmer months and more feminine look but I would prefer the elf blush range to have more matte blushes as many of their shades are quite frosty. And, if I'm being pickity, I would add that it is quite chalky so be careful of excess fallout.

Will you be trying any of the elf blush range or do you already have a favourite from their brand?

Lola - Marc Jacobs

Lola - Marc Jacobs 100ml* £63 (boots) - prices do vary in different stores

I had been lusting after this perfume for a very long time but couldn't quite stomach spending that much on a perfume instead sticking to my staple Ghost and Ghost Sweetheart - I have bottles and bottles of the stuff. You might remember me recently blogging about how the boyfriend was away in Magalluf, well he was an ultimate sweetheart and brought me this back as a present to surprise me, alongside a ginger cat souvenir, which I probably got more excited over in all honesty, to match my locks and my best friends nickname for me 'ginger kitty'.

I'm am a sucker for pretty packaging and aesthetics wise this doesn't fail to please in any shape or form. I love the majestic purple casing and flamboyant floral lid to match its floral based scent. It is such a gorgeous bottle and to be quite honest I think that's what attracted me most to this product so their product packaging team got it spot on in terms of marketing.

In terms of scent it is quite rich and musky in comparison to its sister Daisy which has a lighter and more fresh scent. It smells quite strongly of lillies so a little goes a long way and so if you're like me and have a tendency to go a bit spritz crazy and douse yourself in perfume, don't. You really only need a few sprays and   it really does smell divine.

It is quite a pricy product but in terms of longevity I think it will be quite long lasting and therefore more worth your money. It is more of a luxury item and I'm extremely grateful to Jon for picking this up for me because I personally couldn't afford it willy nilly.

I was lucky enough to be entered into a competition Immediate PR are running to use the Schwarzkopf  Silhouette Colour Brilliance range to re-create celebrity hair glamour within the comfort of my own home and  with a much more purse friendly price tag. I immediately thought of old hollywood glamour supporting the classic side swept loose waves and curls. I took inspiration from Emma Stone (here), Jessica Chastain (here), and Anna Kendrick (here).

Immediate PR sent us three products from the range which include Schwarzkopf Color Brilliance Mousse, Color Brilliance Hairspray, and my personal favourite, the Color Brilliance Extreme Gloss Spray. These products aim to style, hold, and add shine to your locks so that with the help of their range you will never have a bay hair day again and instead shine like your favourite starlet.

To create this look I firstly used the color brilliance mousse on towel dried hair to add volume and keep hold on my natural curls and waves. I unfortunately don't own a pair of curlers so it's up to my trusty ghd's to style my hair into loose waves and curls. I pinned back the side of my hair with good ol' bobby pins lifting my hair at the back to add more volume and to create a semi-bee hive look before then loosely pinning back my fringe for a more elegant touch. I do wish that I lived back in the days of Maureen O'Hara and Audrey Hepburn! Once done I lightly spray over with the hairspray and gloss to keep my hair-do intact and add a bit of extra glossiness!

There you have it a quick and easy hair style with a touch of old hollywood glamour and a show stopping red  lip. I must say I did feel very glam, and my boyfriend thought I looked very beautiful and elegant indeed which is always such a lovely thing to hear. This literally took me all of ten minutes and I look forward to using the Swarzkoph range to help me out with my not so glam hair days in the future!

p.s. I also used the range for my voluminous and bouncy curls in my outfit post here if you'd like to take a peek!
