Little Mistress

`Inspired by my monochrome nails I got a bit matchy matchy and thought it was a great time to show off this little number*. I must admit I did feel slightly Sister Act when I slipped this on but I really love the floral detail on the cuff, which has this chic white leather look. The sixties swing shape is super flattering and I can't help but float about in it pretending I'm Twiggy.

In other news, what do you think about the updates to my layout? Abby did an amazing job and I feel like it's a lot crisper.

I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone

The not-so English sunny weather we've been graced with recently provides the perfect excuse to get snap happy. The boyfriend and I prefer a stroll to are local fields and footpaths, normally armed with a picnic and SPF as we're such pale children.

The other week I was browsing the rails of Zara, as I do many a time on the hunt for a new gem to add to my already busty wardrobe, when I spotted this navy blue playsuit. I knew I had to have it, and even better it was in the sale at £17.99!

I love the silky fabric, the print, and the fact that I do feel as if I'm wearing PJ's to work - what could be better? I received lot's of lovely compliments whilst wearing this and I know my friends are also on the hunt to pick one up, so hurry!

What do you think is it too granddad's pj's or playsuit perfection?

What I Wore: Graduation

Stripe Crepe Shift Dress - Topshop
Rose Gold Watch - Michael Kors
Lipstick - MAC Ruby Woo

Three years have passed so quickly, I know there were moments I thought it would never end and I wouldn't graduate, but I've shown myself. The weather was beautiful, I whacked my pasty pins out, lacquered on the red lippy, and even got my hair cut after three years. Could you tell? I really like it, it's much more voluminous and healthy looking.

I did wear black wedge heels, and was praying to all the Gods that I would not trip on my way up to the podium, and bless my lucky stars I did not fall flat on my face as I have done in so many dreams recently.  I really loved my dress, it was floaty and simple, despite my dad referring to it as the Newcastle football strip all morning...

You can now call me Little Red BA Hons, squee!

they think they're from the sixties, but they were born in 1991

I know I keep harping on about how beautiful the weather has been, but it makes taking outfit snaps all the more fun. This post may be a bit photo hefty but Jon and I got a bit carried away taking pictures in the fields by my house. One downfall was the high pollen count, grrr hayfever is such a burden. My eyes kept watering and I was sneezing every five minutes, which made for some very dodgy looking outtake photo's let me tell you...

I start my internship at Gleam today which I couldn't be any more excited about. I've been counting down the days since my interview with them back in February. I'm looking forward to actually being productive again, and most of all being part of Team Gleam for as long as they will have me. Exciting times lie ahead. My dad is already chuckling at the thought of me commuting every day but it's not that far a trip and my kindle has been stock piled with good books to keep me occupied on the way home.

What do you think of my monochrome polka dot pinafore? I do love a pinafore, and this number from New Look is no exception.  It was a steal at £17 and I did feel very girly twirling around in it in the meadow. It would also be great to wear to work, so an all round winner!

The Sunday Post: Dungaree's and Dissertation's

Sheer White Blouse - H&M
Denim Dungaree's - Topshop
Wishbone Above Knuckle Ring - The Bohemian Collective*
Rose Gold Watch - Michael Kors*

I'd just like to start this post with a massive HELL YEAH, my dissertation is done and dusted. I can't even express in words how happy, relieved, and proud this makes me all at one time. In true Lauren style I left a big chunk of it to be done at the last minute, I know I work better under pressure but this was something else. I couldn't even cry I was that stressed but I got it done and I'm really happy with it, fingers crossed it goes down well. I went on a bit of a Boot's haul as a treat after I'd handed it in so expect a post dissertation haul to come soon.

This weekend consisted of Iron Man 3 and therefore lot's of drooling over Robert Downing Jnr. Hnnnng. I absolutely love marvel comic's and films but although I really enjoyed the film, it wasn't as good as I had expected. The rest of the weekend was filled with dancing to 90's one hit wonders, who remembers Marvin and Tamara? G to the R Double O V E, Get on my Groove Machine! Me and my friends are quite obviously hell raisers on our Saturday nights...

This Week I've Been Listening to:
  • I've had 'Chocolate' by The 1975 stuck in my head all week. Get out already.
  • Might have also performed my own production of 'Hairspray' in my room this morning, you can't stop the beat...
I've Been Watching:
  • Re-runs of 'Angel' - not as good as Buffy but I'm still addicted to when vampires were actually cool and not soppy, sparkling creatures.
I've Been Reading:
  • I've just started reading the second book in the Hunger Games Trilogy, 'Catching Fire'. It's nice to be able to actually read books simply for me again instead of annotating every last inch of a novel until I hate it.
  • The beaut is back. If you haven't read Lily Bee's blog then you're missing out. A great girl and beyond stunning, I'm glad to see Helen posting more regularly again!
  • The Spring Trilogy Post's over on Essie Button are well worth a look. I love Estee's sense of humour and watching her video's, as well as reading her posts, never fail to put a smile on my face.
Do have any good reads to recommend, I'm looking for more books to add to my summer reading list!

mr. blue sky

lace collar top - topshop
rita trousers - monki
konnie cage cut out sandals - topshop

Today has been b-e-a-utiful! Spring cleaning done all that was left to do was to bask in the sunshine, finally. Me and Jon made a little picnic and sat watching the Arsenal game in my garden. My house backs on to a farmers field which is also used a public footpath where everyone takes their dogs to walk by the local horse fields, it really did feel like Summer today. I hope this weather keeps up, I smell the first BBQ of the year on its way. It's also my birthday in two weeks time and I'd love the sun to stick around.

There was a  massive cofuffle with my topshop order that I made over a month ago, after various e-mails I finally found out my order had been lost by the courier. Topshop sent me over a speedy refund and I had re-do my whole order only to find out the konnie cage cut out sandals that I'd wanted in tan were sold out, thankfully they had some left in black. I LOVE THEM. They're so comfy and go with pretty much everything. What do you think?
I also picked up these blue and white print trousers from Monki. I find trousers like these great for the British Summer. I'm not one to get my bare legs out a lot, I find them shockingly pasty and I can never be bothered to fake tan so loose elasticated trousers are my saviour. I picked up quite a few pairs of printed trousers recently and I think I've become a bit addicted to their genie like quality.

Are you enjoying the sunshine where you are?

and the walls kept tumbling down, in the city that we love

Dream Catcher Dress* - Mina UK

I thought I'd sport a more colourful number to brighten up the rainy/snowy Easter Weekend most of us in the UK are suffering with at the moment. I'm determined to get into a more spring like mood and have swapped my PJ's for this beautiful Dream Catcher Dress* from Mina UK. It's floaty, it's bright, and the aztec inspired pattern that runs down the front and around the sleeves just screams to be showered in sunshine - *fingers crossed!*

I've rearranged my wardrobe to feature some more Summer appropriate outfits in the hopes that the Sun will soon come back to us and cheer up this gloomy aura that has come along with yet more snow. When I opened this package all I could think about was getting away on holiday, getting my legs out and basking in the sunshine - is anyone else praying for this too?

As it's Easter weekend we've been doing a lot of baking, watching Disney movies, and generally just relaxing in our comfiest, and warmest, pj's we could find. I'm really looking forward to an Easter Sunday roast with all the trimmings, mmmmm....

What are you up to this Easter Weekend? I hope you have a good one!

What I Wore: 2012

01,02,03,04,05,06,07,08,09
I saw a few of these posts popping up and really liked the idea, I a huge fan of documenting every little thing that happens in my life, am always on twitter and instagramming silly little things (add me, i'm 'ohlittlered') and so why not my favourite outfit posts of 2012? All outfit posts are linked above if you want to know specific clothing details!

This year has zoooomed by, I feel like it was only April a month or so ago but now I find myself approaching my final term of uni, looking to move out properly on my own and begin the rest of my life out of education...eek! I haven't taken as many outfit posts as I would have liked this year and have only really started getting the hang of posing away just for this blogs benefit but they do make my favourite posts and so I hope to do a lot more in 2013. SO weird thinking it will be 2013, I'm getting old...
I want to become a bit more ambitious with my wardrobe next year. Think bold prints and maybe some more arm candy, I'm not the biggest advocate for jewellery. I normally don't bother taking outfit photo's because mostly I find my outfits being repeated or too boring to really show you. I live in my disco pants and baggy jumper and there's only so many of 'those' posts you can put up. I want to wear more trousers next year and grunge things up a bit, we will see!

Are you thinking of switching things up in your wardrobe come 2013?

Wishing you all a fabulous New Years whatever you're doing, see you next year!

velvet dreams

velvet playsuit - Lavish Alice*
 leather jacket - miss selfridges
millicent studded boots - topshop
nails - deborah lippman*
These outfit pic's were snapped pre-christmas whilst sauntering around Picadilly waiting to watch Viva Forever with the babe that is Jemma. We adopted a empty doorway for our backdrop and posed anxiously whilst tourists pointed and stared - oh well, all for you guys!
I received this gorgeous navy playsuit from Lavish Alice- you might have noticed I've had a bit of a velvet crush as of late and this snazzy little number fit the bill perfectly. I love the long sleeves and floatiness of this playsuit as it makes it super comfortable and more wearable during these colder months. I just had a peek on the Lavish Alice site and it is also now on sale knocking £10 its former £38 price tag so go, go, go!

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas? I had such a lovely day that was only slightly spoilt by a hangover that left me cuddling the toilet in the earlier hours of Christmas morning but don't worry it didn't put me off stuffing my face and waking at the crack of dawn yelling "ITS CHRISTMASSSSSSSS". With selection box upon selection box at my fingertips, cheesy soap Christmas drama, and family and friends, I really couldn't have asked for much more! How did you spend your Christmas day and was anyone else slightly let down by Derek Branning's death on Eastenders? I wanted a punch up or something!

and the bells were ringing out

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
Sarah Wine Peter Pan Collar Dress - Oh My Love*
Clutch - Next*
I think is possibly the most fitting dress for the festive season, a gorgeous deep burgundy velvet with lace collar and sleeve embellishments. On the two occasions I've worn this since receiving it I have always received comments such as "you look like you're an elf!" and I suppose it does have that feel to it around this time of year. It's extremely flattering and I feel mega Christmassy and feminine floating around in it! Oh My Love has SO many gorgeous pieces just like this dress and I've added one or two items to my Christmas wishlist...

You might have noticed I've been a little bit absent on here recently but that's due to the final rush to get deadlines met during the last couple weeks of university which I can happily tell you is done and dusted for this year! Cannot believe I've complete my last ever autumn term at University and am back home wrapping presents and thinking of the perfect party dress for New Year, where has this year gone?!

I'm back home for a month now and although I have my dissertation to be getting on with I will be blogging again a lot more. I'm really in the spirit this year and even dabbled a little in gingerbread baking the other day using festive dough cutters and everything - get me!

What have you been doing to get into the spirit?

I'm living on such sweet nothing

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
Dress - Pop Couture*
Millicent Stud Boots - topshop
bracelets - topshop
earrings - pop couture*
nails - models own Southern Lights & Blizzard
If you saw my post on the Pop Couture Event that I attended last week you will already know that they were generous enough to let us choose an item of our own to review. I chose this plush velvet, burgundy dress, and I absolutely love it, don't you?
Yes, so posing in it whilst we're experiencing minus degree weather, and in front of a very amused crowd just off Oxford Street, was more than just a little bit chilly especially with the waistline cut outs, but I had to show off the beautiful detailing. What I didn't manage to catch on camera is the black lace back with golden flecks which, together with the gold studded collar chain, help to complete this dress as a go to night out number. For £22 I think its a complete and utter bargain and I can't thank Pop Couture enough

I was hurrying around the glittering streets of London again last for Louise Thompson (from Made in Chelsea, for any reality tv junkies like myself) for Goddiva Fashion Launch but more on that in an upcoming post! It's beyond amazing witnessing my city in all its festive glory. Oxford Street was, as always at this time of year, brimming with tourists, shoppers, and locals all taking in the Christmassy atmosphere and I well and truly caught the festive bug - squeee! I even popped up my Christmas tree this evening, earliest its ever been up and all I have to say is bah humbug to it being bad luck, I like being keen, okay.

Are you getting into the Christmas Spirit this year? *plays Mariah Carey's 'All I want for Christmas' on repeat..*
