they think they're from the sixties, but they were born in 1991

I know I keep harping on about how beautiful the weather has been, but it makes taking outfit snaps all the more fun. This post may be a bit photo hefty but Jon and I got a bit carried away taking pictures in the fields by my house. One downfall was the high pollen count, grrr hayfever is such a burden. My eyes kept watering and I was sneezing every five minutes, which made for some very dodgy looking outtake photo's let me tell you...

I start my internship at Gleam today which I couldn't be any more excited about. I've been counting down the days since my interview with them back in February. I'm looking forward to actually being productive again, and most of all being part of Team Gleam for as long as they will have me. Exciting times lie ahead. My dad is already chuckling at the thought of me commuting every day but it's not that far a trip and my kindle has been stock piled with good books to keep me occupied on the way home.

What do you think of my monochrome polka dot pinafore? I do love a pinafore, and this number from New Look is no exception.  It was a steal at £17 and I did feel very girly twirling around in it in the meadow. It would also be great to wear to work, so an all round winner!

where trouble melts like lemon drops, high above the chimney tops

We've been sporting a good ol' bout of summer sun this past week, which I have been taking full advantage of having spent my final week off lazing about in the garden, sunning my pasty pins, and ravaging through The Hunger Games trilogy. Long may the sun reign.

Purple Paisley Print Harem Trousers - New Look
Crop Top - Topshop
Above the knuckle ring - Bohemian Co*
Sandals - Topshop

Today was a little overcast so my shorts were swapped for these paisley beauties from New Look. New Look have really upped their game recently, and I have picked up more than a few pairs of these sorts of trousers of late, without breaking the bank I must add.  Harem trousers are great for summer, and this purple paisley print certainly doesn't fail to be noticed and add a pop of colour.

Anywhoo, I have an appointment with the garden chair awaits met with a good dose of strawberry ice cream, and finishing off Mockinjay, the final instalment in the Hunger Games saga! If you have any book recommendations please leave them in the comments, the way I'm devouring books at the moment I need a few. I might even pop up a book worm post or two, what d'ya think?

I'll leave you with my favourite ginger...

I was recently approached about a blogger competition that New Look is running with Fashion Blog Asteria Sparkle, for full details about entering the competition click here. Closes 5th of October so get your entries in ! Competition revolves around New Looks new denim jeans launch! Tweet your entry with #denimcomp
I decided to keep my outfit simple and you could say it is not the most vibrant of outfits with the two key colours being black and burgundy, however, wine reds and berry tones have been snapped flitting up and down the catwalk at London Fashion Week and are a top choice for the autumn/winter season. I personally love the shade of burgundy used for the pictured skinny jeans as I think it suits every skin tone and just screams autumnal crunchy leaves and mulled wine to me, perfect for getting in the mood for Christmas!

I love teaming up denim and leather so I went for this leather look jacket at a very student friendly £34.99, no need to break the bank balance to pull off biker chic!  I would quite happily wear this outfit on a night out as I find peplum tops to be hugely flattering and I love the added studded neck and sleeves to rock it up a little. My boyfriend always says a pair of fitted dark skinny jeans are what he finds sexiest and it just goes to show you don't leave to bare your pins to the winter winds this season to look good! I also think if you take away the heels and pair this outfit with a leather pair of boots it would be great for everyday wear to University, school or lounging around town with your mates.

New Look is really doing it for me at the minute, since attending their a/w launch a few weeks ago I've found myself browsing their rails more often after formerly abandoning them for Topshop. The prices are much more affordable and the quality is on par and their denim jeans are super snug to see me through the bitter cold and trudging back and forth to University this autumn!

What do you think is the perfect outfit for nights out during these colder months? What do you think of New Looks newest clothing range?

New Look @ London Fashion Week - #HPMLFW

Once again may I firstly apologise for the lack of quality with these images, it was another instagram job as I'm without my camera whilst I'm home from university but on to what I'm really here to talk to you about, New Look's latest a/w clothing and cosmetics collection. I was fortunately invited to the Handpicked Media Suite at the very swanky One Aldwych Hotel in London, as this was one of the first events I've had the honour of attending I was slightly apprehensive about being a bit of an awkward turtle due to not knowing anyone. However, the lovely Jess invited me to meet up with herself, Laura & Liz beforehand, all of which made me feel very welcome so thank you ladies, it was truly lovely to meet you all!

Upon entering my eyes were immediately drawn to the various rails housing the newest looks which an array of different prints, textures and styles to suit every individual whether you wish to brave a standout pink and yellow knitted number or a simple but stylish studded blouse and matching boots. Studs really do seem to be a hot trend for this season and I had my topshop studded boots on, fitting the occasion. One piece I think many of us bloggers were amazed by was a fitted leather jacket for the bargainous sum of £40 so keep your eyes peeled girls! The atmosphere was really lovely and chatter was the soundtrack of the evening with  canapés treating our taste buds with a selection of mini beef in yorkshire puds and a bitesized fish & chips, which were my personal favourite.

The suite was absolutely stunning with a fantastic view overlooking the city as well as a luxurious bedroom which on the night was home to Kelly Brooks new line of underwear which was spread across the bed. The en-suite bathroom was filled with clear bowls brimming with some of her knickers which we could very gratefully help ourselves too as well as an assortment of Gold by Giles cosmetics which I am yet to try out for myself. There was also a nail bar set out ready for our fingertips to be treated to a bit of pampering, I opted out of this as my nails are ashamedly back to their bitten to the bud state, boo!

I really enjoyed getting to be part of London Fashion Week and all the lovely ladies and gents I met that evening made my first lonesome event not so lonesome after all and I really enjoyed getting to mingle with some of my favourite bloggers as well as bagging some great New Look goodies!

Are you attending any LFW shows or a fan of New Look?

toothpaste kisses

shoes - new look

This little beauty only arrived on my doorstop this morning but I just couldn't wait to share it with you as I've fallen a bit in love with it and have been floating around my garden pretending to a fifties housewife all afternoon as it does make feel rather regal.

I love the contrast of the white with the mint pleated skirt (attached as part of the dress) and collar tips, it's such a stunning summer outfit and once slipped on I guarantee you will feel particularly classy and elegant and might have to resist the urge to prance around. Its lightweight feel makes it comfortable to boot on top off gorgeously girly - I even whacked out the pink lipstick!
There's not much more I can say in terms of bigging this item up, it's taking pride of place in my wardrobe.

p.s say hello to Maxxie, my neighbours cat, who actually lives with us as it just won't leave and scratches at the living room window to be let in if we do try to urge him back towards his owners. He is a cutie though, right?
