The Autumn Lip Line Up

Whether you still classify November as Autumn or not, here's my rundown of the lipsticks that have made it into my line up for the next few months...

A mixture of subtle nudes, deep reds, and berry hues are welcomed with open arms this time of year. There's even the odd occasion a full on purple (meet MAC's Up the Amp here) will make an appearance. If you're not a fan of the bold and bright, I've got a few muted options that still pack a punch for a wintery lip.

Nudes: Enter: MAC Hue and Shy Girl - not pictured above, but either one of these two is bound to hit all the nude lip check points. For a deeper wash of colour try Bobbi Brown Baby Pink* - my go to milky rose lip. Or, my much raved about Liz Earle lipstick in Heather*, a gorgeous plummy brown toned nude - looks quite grown up and somewhat 'grannyish' in tube, but applies gorgeously. 

On a budget? Elf lip pencils in Natural and Tea Rose are flawless for a matte finish, and for more of a sheen pick up L'Oreal Collection Privée (swatches here).

Reds: The festive season always calls upon a strong red lip so here's my skimmed down selection for you: MAC Ruby Woo = ultimate fail safe for a deep blue toned red, great for making your teeth look white. Chantecaille's Tiger Lily* is also stunning for making a statement - for more deets click here. Hourglass Liquid Lipstick in the shade Icon is high on my list for Christmas party lip, but more on that coming soon. For a more toned down wash of colour try the Bourjois Color Boost lip crayon in the shade Red Island*.

Plums & Berries: Possibly my favourite category, and great for this time of year day or night. During the day I love to wear Kate Moss 05 or MAC Craving, which is a gorgeous plummy rose shade that truly deserves a post of it's own alongside MAC Plumful - my most worn autumnal lipstick that's slightly more purple than Craving. Budget Berries include: Topshop Beguiled - a deep blue toned plum, great for a night out; and L'Oreal Color Riche 290 in the shade Plum Passion, which has a gorgeous creamy formula and stunning pigmentation- I'm wearing it here.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder £38

You might have noticed from my Space NK Haul, in yesterday's post, that my brand crush of the moment has to go to Hourglass. The price tag may make your purse weep a wee bit but if you're looking for quality products for a post exam or summertime treat, then Hourglass is a safe bet.

In the case of the new Ambient Lighting Powders, I think £38 is something I could easily spend again on another shade. I can see this powder lasting me a long time with only the minimal amount of product needed to give my skin a new leash of life.  These powders are finely milled and free from parabens and fragrances which are known to irritate sensitive skin like mine. The primary aim is for these powders to diffuse the light and softly blur out any complexion complaints you may have such as pores,  lines, and blemishes. I L-O-V-E this product, my skin is left glowing, imperfections minimised, and I find it extremely long lasting for us girls on the go, an all round winner. No more cakey powderiness, thank you.

I picked up the shade Luminous Light which acts more as a highlight than an all round facial powder (looking at you, Dim Light). What I love about this is that I can softly sweep a light layer all over the skin for a subtle but radiant glow, or brush a dusting of this on my high points such as my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, and cupids bow for an incredible glowy sheen.

Space NK Haulin'

I promised myself I'd stick to my spending ban, but alas I caved after spotting the amazing gift offer deal that Space NK were running a couple weeks back. Come on, I'd just finished my final university exams, you would splurge to...

For those of you who are unaware of the offer I oh-so easily fell into temptation with, Space NK were offering up a gift with purchase (over £150, which is incredibly easy to do, let me tell you!) to rival all gift with purchase deals. Liana did this post highlighting the best products in the goody bag you received, my personal favourite was the Nuxe Multi Purpose Oil, and finally getting my mitts on a diptyque candle! But, on to the items I dropped into my shopping basket in order to receive this deluxe goody bag. I won't lie, most of these products had been placed in my virtual basket many a time, but I always had resisted till now.

Hourglass is a brand that has fast become a firm fav over at the LR household. I first fell in love after my dad brought back their veil primer from his trip to NYC and after rave reviews of their Ambient Lighting Powders, I just had to have my own in Luminous Light. Trust me when I say, this did not disappoint in the slightest, nor did the Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipsticks, which I picked up in both Muse and Icon. Keep your eyes peeled for reviews of this Hourglass trio, especially the liquid lipsticks that offer up the perfect slip of bold and bright to the lips.

Following my thirst for all things bright, bold and radiant the Kevyn Aucoin Creamy Glow Blush in Liquifuschia was speedily added, having lusted for this KA treat since this post by Kate. The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector has been top of lust list for quite some time and I knew once Becca was brought back to Space NK I had to have the illuminator in Pearl. Yet again, I was not disappointed by the results and you can expect a full review to follow.
